Applications for 2025 are now closed but we hope to repeat the scheme in 2026. Here is what itβs all about.
Paragon Singers runs an annual scheme to encourage and support young singers aged 17-25, currently in full or part-time education. The scholarship is ideal for aspiring young singers wishing to develop their choral singing within a small, highly accomplished chamber choir. This could potentially be in preparation for a university choral scholarship or alongside further studies.
Paragon Singers is one of the foremost chamber choirs in Bath. It has around 25 singers, and specialises in the performance of Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary music, Under its director Sarah Latto, the choir has developed a reputation for imaginative programming and singing of the highest quality.
There will be good opportunities for the choral scholar to broaden and deepen their knowledge of the choral repertory. Young singers re invited to apply for the choral scholarship, which includes:
Free membership of the choir during the scholarship year
Vocal techniques and musicianship coaching
Solo opportunities in concert
Opportunities to observe rehearsals with professional ensembles
A subsidised trip abroad (recent tours have included Amsterdam, Crete and Aix en Provence)
The choral scholar will attend weekly rehearsals on Monday evenings from 19.15 β 21.30 in St Alphege Church Hall, Bath, and perform with the choir in concerts throughout the year. They will be expected to have good music reading ability, a good vocal tone and an interest in pursuing singing at a high level.
Closing date for applications: Autumn 2025 (to be announced)
